All the Details of Devon Still and Asha Joyce’s Wedding
Still's daughter, Leah Still, melted hearts at her father’s wedding.
-- Following two years of delay to care for his daughter during her cancer treatment, NFL player Devon Still finally said "I do" to his longtime love, Asha Joyce, this weekend in front of family, friends and his 6-year-old daughter, Leah.
The bride, 26, wore a mermaid gown by Pnina Tornai for Kleinfeld, while the 26-year-old Still was dapper in velvet suit from Martin Greenfield Clothiers. The pair made it official on Friday at the historic New York Library before 180 guests –- including fellow NFL players Carlos Dunlap and Brandon Thompson, and actress Holly Robinson Peete.
Leah, the flower girl, walked down the aisle Friday in a pink custom Hayley Paige dress. She held hands with her father and his bride-to-be as they exchanged their vows. Tears flowed.
"Anytime I see Leah my heart jumps out of my body but seeing her as the flower girl in that beautiful dress -- she's just a vision," Peete said.
Still and Joyce put their special day on hold two years ago after Leah was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma. Still shared his daughter’s struggles through months of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation on social media, and America fell in love with the little girl.
Leah went into remission last year. In January, Leah and her father appeared on "Good Morning America" to announce that she was cancer free.
"I wanted her to be able to walk down the aisle as a healthy child without still battling cancer and now that she beat cancer ... it was the perfect way to start it off getting married," Still, a defensive end for the Houston Texans, told "GMA."
The dream wedding was hosted by The Knot magazine, which for eight weeks allowed fans to vote on every aspect of the couple’s big day –- from the bridal gown to the cake and the rings.
"It's been amazing for me," Joyce said. "They had some great options and they picked some great choices."
Still agreed.
Leah revealed the final surprise -- that the winning honeymoon was seven nights at Secrets Resorts and Spas in Jamaica.
"And I'm going with them ... I promise you that," she said. Her father laughed and said, “We’ll have to take a rain check on that."
Leah thanked the gathering for supporting her, adding: "I love my new family ... now let’s party!"
The newlyweds performed a choreographed first dance, then Leah joined in at the end, getting down to "Uptown Funk."
Guests were served hamburger sliders, shiitake mushrooms, salted caramel macaroons and Still's favorite –- Cuban flan --- by Marcia Selden Catering.
Paige, who designed Leah's dress, commented on the happy couple, saying: "Asha and Devon look so amazing and so in love and it's amazing to be in all of that presence."
