Olympic Gold Medalist Nastia Liukin Lists Boston Apartment on Airbnb During Rio Olympics
Liukin is renting out her apartment while she is in Rio covering the Olympics.
-- Diehard Olympics fans had a chance live like a gold-medal winner as they binge-watch athletes competing for sports' most prestigious honors.
Former Olympic gold medalist gymnast Nastia Liukin, 26, who is covering the games this year, listed her Boston apartment on Airbnb while she is in Rio de Janeiro.
Liukin, who led Team USA to a silver medal and won the all-around gold medal at the 2008 Olympics, offered her one-bedroom, one-bath apartment for $1,250 per night.
The Airbnb listing, which now appears to be closed, said there is a four-night minimum stay for two guests. The apartment is located at the historic Boston Harbor with views of downtown Boston, according to the listing.
“While I’m in Brazil rooting for the next generation of gymnastic superstars in person, I’m putting my place up on Airbnb!,” Liukin wrote on Airbnb. “In fact, you might even see me, from my own living room, while flipping the channels on my flat-screen TV!”
“As with all my guests, I kindly ask that you treat my home as if it were your own, but most of all, have fun and explore the city I love so much,” the retired gymnast wrote.
All proceeds from the Airbnb rental will be donated to the Corey C. Griffin Foundation, which aims to provide healthcare and education solutions to families in need, the listing said.
