Insane Burger Lineup at the Florida State Fair Includes Funnel Cake Bacon Cheeseburger

-- The Florida State Fair isn’t playing around when it comes to food this year – just turn to their funnel cake bacon cheeseburger for proof.
The gut-busting burger features a standard cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce, tomato and pickles, but they’re all nestled between two crunchy fried funnel cakes glazed with sugar.
In addition to the insane creation are two new people’s choice burgers that were voted as winners out of five options.
Coming out on top with 375 votes is the parmesan-crusted burger, an over-the-top twice-fried burger patty coated with a potato chip/parmesan-romano cheese mixture until crispy, then topped with bacon and mayonnaise-parmesan sauce and torched until melted.
Runner-up with 246 votes went to the jalapeno-crusted burger, another twice-fried burger patty coated with a corn chip-jalapeno mix until crispy, then topped with shredded Mexican-style cheese (melted with a kitchen torch), guacamole, salsa and sour cream.
The additions are right up the Florida State Fair’s alley, which has included such over-the-top creations in the past as the Krispy Kreme burger.
“Over the years, food has become an extremely important part of the fair experience,” executive director of the Florida State Fair Authority Charles C. Pesano said in a statement. “As the first State Fair in the country, Florida has introduced items such as the Donut Burger to America. Our vendors work so hard to bring fair-goers the newest, most delicious foods – we’re always excited to taste the newest creations.”
Just missing a place in the spotlight by eight votes was the deep-fried Oreo burger. Yes, you read that right: a beef patty fried on the griddle then dredged through an Oreo cookie batter, deep-fried and topped with bacon, glaze and more crumbled Oreos.
Other fair favorites included a Thanksgiving-inspired patty and brie, bacon and apple maple compote topped burger.
The fair is Feb. 5-16 in Tampa.
