Walmart's Patti LaBelle Sweet Potato Pies Bringing in Dough on eBay

The pies are quickly selling out in many stores across the country.

The sweet potato pie has been in Walmart stores since September, but it recently became a highly desirable item after YouTuber James Wright posted a hilarious video-reaction of his Patti LaBelle Sweet Potato Pie taste-test, in which Wright literally sings its praises.

The pie review video caught the public's attention, and has been viewed over 2 million times.

A spokesman for Walmart said that in the following days after Wright's video went viral, the pies have been flying off the shelves, and selling out in many stores.

Walmart spokesman Scott Markley claimed the treats were selling at a rate of one pie per second.

The Patti LaBelle Sweet Potato Pie was also the most visited food item page at Walmart.com over the weekend, and it is currently the second most visited food item page on the website, second only to turkey.

People are so excited about the pie that some consumers are purchasing the pies at their local Walmart, only to re-sell them for profit on eBay.

The ready-to-serve 8-inch pie is described on the Walmart website as "made with California grown sweet potatoes, butter & spice," and is being sold for $3.48 in stores. However, many sellers on eBay are listing prices anywhere from $30 to $100 and up.
