Mitch McConnell: My Wife Wasn't Ready to Have Me Sitting Around Working on My Resume
Kentucky Republican senator gets thumbs-up from voters for sixth term.
-- The majority of Kentucky voters gave Sen. Mitch McConnell a thumbs up for a sixth term -- never mind one voter's hilarious photo bomb of the politician earlier in the day.
McConnell jubilantly greeted a crowd of supporters after he was introduced by his wife, former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao.
Comparing the election process to a "very long" job interview, McConnell joked that his wife was relieved voters were sending him back to Washington, D.C.
"She wasn't ready to have me sitting around the house working on my resume," McConnell joked. "She has been the most valuable player on our team and I am so blessed to have her in my life and by my side."
McConnell's sixth term could be extra sweet for the politician. If Republicans take control of the senate, McConnell is poised to be the senate majority leader.
