Obama Girl: Crush on the President Fading

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31, 2010— -- Better known as "Obama Girl," Amber Lee Ettinger, the actress and model who appeared as the sexy star of the Web video "Crush on Obama" that went viral during the 2008 presidential election, now says she no longer has a "big crush" on Obama.

Ettinger said on Fox News on Friday that when the video's creative director Ben Relles approach her to appear in his video, she agreed to do it because she did have a crush on Obama then. But Ettinger now says that her crush has faded.

"Yes, I mean, it was two years ago. If I had this crush on him the same way as I did in the beginning, I'd be the fool. You know, it's like a relationship. When you get into a relationship with somebody they're all great and perfect, they say all the right things," Ettinger, 27, said on FOX. "And then once you're in the relationship it's like, OK, they're not that perfect."

Ettinger said she wasn't impressed with his State of the Union address he gave last Wednesday.

"I think it was a lot of recycled talk," she said. "People like -- talk is cheap; actions speak louder than words. And even with a relationship, you know, once people -- your boyfriend, girlfriend doesn't do what they say they're going to do, you kick them to the curb."

When asked if she would vote for President Obama today, she said, "Right now I can't say for sure."

Obama Girl Now for Huckabee?

Given an option between voting for Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee as president in 2012, Ettinger said on Fox she would choose former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

"He's the one that stood out to me, for some of the things he said when he was campaigning. He has great values. I like him, and I thought he was a good guy," Ettinger said to ABCnews.com in a phone interview.

But, she said, her infatuation with Obama wasn't completely gone.

"I graded him a B-minus, and I don't think that's that bad," she said.

Obama Girl a 'Measuring Stick'

"I'm going to give him a little bit longer, because I'm trying to think positive," Ettinger said on FOX. "I like to not be negative. And I know that he had a lot to kind of take on."

Ettinger said she thought a B- for President Obama was fair.

"Me like everyone else in the country had really high hopes based on the campaign he ran on, every president says they're going to do change, they all promise it. For me and for a lot of other people, it's hard to evaluate him after a year, but I think everyone was super excited that he was going to make miracles happen," Ettinger said to ABCNews.com.

"Because of all the things he spoke about, we thought this guy is the one to make everyone to be better," she said.

When asked what grade she would have given President George W. Bush, she laughed and said, "D."

"People use her as a measuring stick," Relles, 34, said in an interview with ABCNews.com. He added that after the "Crush on Obama" video went viral, Ettinger was approached by three or four different campaigns to get her support away from Obama.

Relles said he and Ettinger disagree slightly on how the president's done in his first year.

"She is more critical of the president than myself. She gave him a B- on his first year," he said. "I actually thought it was an impressive first year in office. It's difficult to judge the effect of his policies he put in place so early in his presidency, he tackled some really big issues, he accomplished a lot."

Relles said he would give the president an A-.

"The minus coming from the issue of not clearly communicating what his health care plan was," he explained.

Relles said he created the video not just because he was a supporter of then-candidate Sen. Obama, but because it "would make a really funny video." But, he said, he probably wouldn't do that video again now.

"I wouldn't create that video again not because I don't support Obama, because I do, it's really a satire of how people were going insane for him as a candidate, so it probably wouldn't be appropriate to do the same video now," he said.

What's in Store for 2012?

"It's inevitable, the excitement around the candidate is different than the excitement around the president. It'd be weird if 70,000 people were still following him around," Relles said. "He deserves an A for the way he ran his campaign, it was brilliant."

Relles, who created the "Crush on Obama" video in June 2007 now runs www.barelypolitical.com and www.barelydigital.com, and says he plans to use Ettinger in his future videos. He says he is looking forward to doing a lot more videos once the 2012 elections start heating up.

"We'd be ecstatic if Sarah Palin would run for president, it would definitely provide us with a lot of fodder," he said.

Huckabee, who is a now a Fox News show host, asked Ettinger, who appeared as a guest on his show Saturday, "When's my video coming out?"

"If you're ready, I'm ready," she joked.

So is Ettinger planning on doing a video for Huckabee?

"Don't quote me on doing the videos on anybody yet," she said.

What about the Sen.-elect Scott Brown?

"Well, maybe, after seeing his Cosmo ad," she joked.

"My options are open," she said. "I don't think I'm going to be anyone's girl, being Obama Girl was enough for this long, for sure."
