Draymond Green: Warriors must play like desperate team
-- CLEVELAND -- Draymond Green says the Cleveland Cavaliers are outfighting the Warriors through three games of the NBA Finals, and it's showing in Golden State's 2-1 series deficit.
"They're playing like a team that's desperate and needs something," Green said Wednesday, less than 24 hours after the Cavs earned a 96-91 Game 3 win. "We're playing like a team that's not desperate and got something."
Green looked to Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova as an example of what the Warriors aren't doing.
Of the loose balls secured in the series, Green said, "Who got the first? 'Delly.' The second? 'Delly.'"
Green, the runner-up in NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting, asserted that the Warriors can't win if that type of play persists. He also expressed a need for his team to be more expressive in general.
"This isn't the time to be quiet. Everybody should speak up," Green said. "You be quiet now, you'll be home in a couple days."
Warriors forward Andre Iguodala didn't necessarily agree with his teammate's comments.
"I wouldn't say we're not fighting, but we could fight more," he said. "So I can agree and disagree with the statement."
Iguodala later added: "We've definitely got to fight a little bit harder, and being down 2-1, you've got to pull some extra stuff up out of you to try to get a win next game."
Green was 2-of-10 for seven points in Tuesday's loss. He has been dealing with back spasms but should be ready for Game 4 on Thursday night.
