Dwyane Wade's Family Plans Vigil, Launches Fund for Fatally Shot Cousin

— -- Chicago police are questioning three individuals in connection with the fatal shooting Friday night of NBA star Dwyane Wade's cousin, Nykea Aldridge, a police spokesman confirmed to ABC News early Sunday morning.

The mother-of-four was gunned down while pushing a stroller through Chicago's Parkway Gardens neighborhood on the South Side, when two men exchanged gunfire nearby, hitting her in the arm and the head.

Aldridge, 32, was an innocent bystander and not the intended target, police said.

Police are also are investigating whether the encounter involved a driver for a rideshare company, according to The AP.

As police interview persons of interest, the devastated Wade family is inviting community members to a vigil at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Willie Mae Morris Empowerment Center in Chicago. According to its website, the center "was developed in part to assist the City of Chicago in their continued efforts to decrease the violence and fatalities by providing a safe haven and high quality programming for our youth."

The family has also established a trust fund for Aldridge's four children. Donation checks can be made payable to the Nykea Aldrige Children's Fund and mailed to Seaway National Bank, Attn: Daryl Newell, Chief Retail Officer, 645 East 87th Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60619.

Wade, who announced his first cousin's death on Twitter Friday night, returned to Twitter on Saturday with a trio of tweets, expressing frustration with the city's gun violence. "RIP Nykea Aldridge... #EnoughIsEnough," read the Chicago Bulls player's first tweet.

He continued, "The city of Chicago is hurting. We need more help& more hands on deck. Not for me and my family but for the future of our world. The YOUTH!" His final tweet read, "These young kids are screaming for help!!! #EnoughIsEnough."

Public figures, including fellow athletes, took to Twitter to express their condolences to Wade.

"This is heartbreaking. So sorry for your loss," tweeted singer and actress Deborah Cox.

Oklahoma City Thunder player Enes Kanter tweeted, "I'm sorry for your loss my man. @DwyaneWade Thoughts and prayers with your family. #EnoughIsEnough."

And WNBA star Swin Cash of New York Liberty, tweeted, "@DwyaneWade Praying for you, the whole family, her beautiful children and the city of Chicago.. My GOD this has to stop!"

On Saturday, many celebrities took issue with Donald Trump's tweet, in which he misspelled Wade's first name and took the opportunity to appeal to African-American voters. The Republican presidential nominee tweeted, "Dwayne [sic] Wade's cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I've been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!"

That prompted music producer and former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams to tweet, "@realDonaldTrump An absolute disgrace."

In response to Trump's tweet, actress Holly Robinson Peete tweeted, "I am just...I am so offended by this I can barely breathe. My prayers and condolences go out to the Wade family."

But actor Don Cheadle was less reserved with his words, requoting Trump's tweet and adding "You are truly a POS," an acronym for "piece of s***."
