NFL Prospect Robert Nkemdiche Injured in Fall From Hotel
Police say suspected marijuana found in his hotel room.
-- NFL prospect Robert Nkemdiche was injured today in a fall at a hotel in Atlanta, police said.
Nkemdiche, who plays defensive tackle at Ole Miss, fell approximately 15 feet from a wall in the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead, Atlanta police said. Police said it appeared that he broke a window in his hotel room, walked 15 feet and the climbed over a wall and fell.
He was conscious and breathing when emergency responders arrived, and he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was instable condition, police said.
Police found a small amount of what was suspected to be marijuana in Nkemdiche's hotel room, but did not say who they believed it belonged to.
Nkemdiche, a 6-foot-4, 296-pound junior, was expected to be a first-round NFL draft pick this spring. He anchored the Rebels' defensive line this season, helping them to a 9-3 record and a spot in the Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma State on Jan. 1. He was selected to The Associated Press All-America second team, which was announced today.
"We are still learning about the matter, but obviously Robert's wellbeing is our greatest concern," Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement released by the school.
