Jeannie Mai Jenkins shares meaning behind her newborn's name
She and Jeezy named their first child Monaco.
Jeannie Mai Jenkins has revealed the name of her first child after announcing the newborn's arrival last week.
In a video tour of her nursery shared on her YouTube channel on Thursday, "The Real" co-host, 43, said that she and her husband, Jeezy, named their child Monaco because of a special conversation they shared there.
Mai Jenkins, who has not announced the sex of their newborn yet, said, "I thought Baby J's name should be a J name because obviously Jeannie and Jeezy, makes sense, but that wasn't the name that came to us."
"What really came to us was how baby J came to fruition for us when we were dating," she continued.
She then pointed to a photograph in her child's nursery that she took, which features the exact spot in Monaco where they had a pivotal conversation about their future together.
"He turned me around and said, 'What kind of life do you want with me? What do you want to do in this life? What dreams do you have?'" Mai Jenkins said about her husband.
Noting that Monaco was the first place that she and Jeezy established their future as a couple, Mai Jenkins later revisited the exact spot while she was traveling alone and had a lengthy conversation with Jeezy through FaceTime.
"At the time, I didn't know what it meant -- I didn't know technically that it meant marriage and having kids," she said. "I just knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, I wanted to build with him, I wanted to grow with him and I wanted us to bear fruit together."
She said that the theme of their child's nursery is based off the name. For Mai Jenkins and her husband, the location is all about "family, moments, traveling, discussions, important key points in my life and Jeezy's life that brought Monaco here."
Monaco is the couple's first child together. Jeezy has three children from previous relationships.
