Sophie Turner sets fan straight on why protests can't stop now
"This is about changing the system," she wrote in response to a comment.
Sophie Turner showed her support for the Black Lives Matter movement by joining protestors in Los Angeles with her husband, Joe Jonas, over the weekend.
Her support didn't stop there though. The British Game of Thrones actress continued it online when an Instagram user commented on one of her posts.
Seemingly referencing the four policeman involved in George Floyd's case, the user wrote, "I mean they’ve been arrested and charged with murder so there’s justice, soooo can we have peace now?"
According to screenshots posted by various fan accounts, the 24-year-old actress explained, "This is about Breonna Taylor, this is about Trayvon Martin, this is about Eric Garner, this is about the systemic racism that black people have faced for hundreds and hundreds of years."
Turner continued, "This is about changing the system. Justice will be done when society reflects our beliefs that we are all equal. Until then there should be no peace."
The actress also previously shared a statement on her solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
"I stand in solidarity with those speaking out against racism and fighting for justice and equality," she wrote in an Instagram post. "Silence is not an option."
She also urged her followers to follow black voices. "While my voice is not one that needs to be heard, I want to highlight some of those we should listen to," she wrote. Some of the names she highlighted include Rachel Cargle, Indya Moore, Tarana Burke, Colin Kaepernick and more.
