Small Plane Crashes Into Car on California Freeway
One person in the car was killed and five others were injured.
— -- A small plane crashed on a California freeway today, colliding with a car that had pulled over to the side of the road and killing a person in the car.
Five people -- two from the four-seat single-prop Lancair IV plane and three from the car -- were injured, the California Highway Patrol said, according to The Associated Press.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it was investigating the crash, which occurred in Fallbrook, California, on the 15 North about 50 miles north of San Diego.
According to the NTSB, the Lancair IV was piloted by Dennis Hogge, who is also the owner of the plane.
The plane is the same one that was owned by former Major League Baseball player Matt Nokes, who told ABC News that in February 2000 engine trouble with the plane forced him to make an emergency landing on the same Southern California highway, about 30 miles from where the crash occurred today. Nokes said he was able to land the plane safely after the engine quit.
