11 Surprising Cyber Monday Deals
Forget the flat-screen television. What about air travel and ice cream?
Dec. 2, 2013 — -- intro:
Cyber Monday, the day when retailers push their online deals to holiday shoppers, tends to skew towards deals on electronics, but toy, fashion and even food sellers are trying to lure in shoppers.
Charlie Graham, founder and CEO of shopping site Shop It To Me, said Black Friday and Cyber Monday are "just the beginning" of the holiday sale season.
Last year, the days immediately following Cyber Monday, weren't great for clothing, shoes and accessories sales, he said.
"But with the short holiday shopping season this year, the discounts should pick up again shortly," he said. "My advice is this: if you're shopping for a gift or if you see something you really love on sale, go ahead a buy it now – as long as you are getting at least 30 percent off."
He said the price may go down over the next few weeks, but don't expect to see sales that are greater than 50 percent off until 2014.
The search term, "cyber Monday 2013" is spiking 2882 percent this month on Yahoo, with 56 percent of searches coming from women in top searching cities like Los Angeles, Dallas, Philadelphia, New York and Lexington, Ky., Yahoo says.
