There are -- behind the scenes negotiations to free an elderly American tourists now being held by North Korea. Merrill Newman is an 85 year old Korean War veteran and a grandfather. He was wrapping up a trip to North Korea when authorities pulled him off of the plane five minutes before take off. His family has not heard from him since October 26. ABC's Martha Raddatz explains -- -- -- went there in the first place. Friends say Merrill -- just thought it would be a find an interesting trip. And even though they are not saying the US government is certainly seeking ways to get him released. And as you can imagine he is the talk of his retirement -- The State Department is talking with Sudan's embassy in North Korea to help gain new men's freedom.
