Actress Candice Bergen Opens Up About Past 'Blind Date' With Donald Trump
"It was a very short evening," the actress said of their date.
— -- It's certainly a small world. Acclaimed actress Candice Bergen recently opened up about her "very short" date with the one and only Donald Trump when the two were in college.
"It was a very short evening," Bergen told People magazine of the blind date. Both were students at the Wharton School of Business in the 1960s.
The actress, now 69, and the presidential candidate, also 69, apparently didn't hit it off, but Bergen said Trump definitely brought his usual flair to the evening.
"I just remember that he was wearing a three-piece burgundy suit and burgundy boots. He was very coordinated," Bergen said. "He's always been very nice to me since."
Trump, who is now married to Melania Trump, was married to Ivana Trump from 1977 to 1992 and Marla Maples from 1993 to 1999. The "Murphy Brown" star was married to Louis Malle from 1980 to 1995 and is now wed to Marshall Rose.
Bergen added that she supports Hilary Clinton, not Trump, for president.
For his part, Trump has also spoken about the brief time he spent with Bergen, though he recalled last year in an interview with the Boston Globe that the actress turned him down.
“She was so beautiful. She was dating guys from Paris, France, who were 35 years old, the whole thing. I did make the move. And I must say she had the good sense to say, ‘Absolutely not,'" he said last August.
Looks like she did eventually say "Yes," but just not to a second date.
