Caitlyn Jenner, Formerly Known as Bruce, Poses for Vanity Fair
"Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets," Jenner says.
— -- The first image of Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, has been released by Vanity Fair magazine.
"Caitlyn Jenner poses for Annie Leibovitz on the cover of Vanity Fair," the tweet reads with the title of the magazine article, "Call me Caitlyn."
Jenner, 65, also tweeted after the cover was revealed, writing, "I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me."
In a video that accompanies the Vanity Fair article, Jenner says, "The last few days in doing this shoot was about my life. And who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium. It’s not about going down the street and everybody giving me ‘Thataboy, Bruce!’ Pat on the back, Ok? This about your life. Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie. Every day he always had a secret from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. Soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”
Jenner added, telling the magazine, “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.’”
The former Olympian first announced the transition from man to a woman during an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer back on April 24.
“For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman,” Jenner told Sawyer.
“People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life -- it is part of me,” Jenner added. “That female side is part of me. That’s who I am ... My brain is much more female than it is male,” he added. “It’s hard for people to understand that, but that’s what my soul is.”
On a two-part special that aired earlier this month on E!, Jenner explained the future surgeries to his kids: Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall.
"It's a lot of work, you do it in stages," he said, citing changes to his forehead and jaw, among other things.
It was also revealed on last night's "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" that Jenner had planned to go through facial feminization surgery.
During the mid-season finale, a voice-over that sounds like Kourtney Kardashian asks her sisters Kim and Khloe, "'Have you guys talked to Bruce? Did you hear he's having a surgery this week?'"
