Inside Ryan Lochte's Proposal to Kayla Rae Reid

— -- Ryan Lochte had an impressive performance last night on "Dancing With the Stars," dedicating his dance to his mother and reflecting on what happened earlier this summer at the Rio Olympics.
But after the show, Lochte, 32, admitted that his recent engagement to his now fiancee Kayla Rae Reid didn't go nearly as smoothly.
Lochte popped the question over the weekend, then posted the good news on Instagram, along with a photo of the moment.
"Memories forever!!! #thelochtes #LA," he wrote next to an image of the couple kissing in front of a beautiful backdrop.
But backstage last night, Lochte told "Good Morning America": "I practiced it so many times in my bathroom. I had my suit and my jacket on and I was pulling the ring out and getting down and the words and everything was perfect but when it actually happened, I couldn’t get the ring out of my pocket and then I was stumbling on all the words and clammy."
The couple took a helicopter ride over Los Angeles before he asked for her hand while standing on a scenic hilltop above Malibu.
“I finally got the courage to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ And she said yes and then I was like, ‘Yes! My life is complete,'" he said.
He later added in the interview that he knew she was "the one" after the incident in Rio.
"She was my rock. That’s when I knew, ‘I’m not letting this one go.’"
The two have been dating since January of this year.
