Lindsay Lohan's London Debut In 'Speed-the-Plow' Draws Mixed Reviews
The actress is starring in "Speed-the-Plow" in London.
— -- Lindsay Lohan Wednesday night made her debut in a preview performance of "Speed-the-Plow" in London.
The reviews of her performance as Karen, an ambitious secretary, were mixed.
For starters, the actress flubbed a few of her lines, according to the New York Daily News.
"Looking pale and nervous, Lohan managed to hang on through her small but critical role as Hollywood secretary Karen — but only with the aid of some crew members offstage who shouted lines at her when she blanked on what she was supposed to say," the newspaper reported. "While it wasn’t a total disaster, her nerves clearly got the best of her in certain places."
The Daily Beast delivered a similar review. "On the first night of previews, a work-in-progress feel is to be expected. But halfway through the second act of ‘Speed-the-Plow,’ the audience was openly laughing at Lohan’s struggle to grasp Mamet’s sharp, trademark dialogue," it reported.
But the Huffington Post reported that, in fact, the actress' co-star was the one who "really messed up."
"While Lindsay did need prompting at one point during the show’s second act, she jumped straight back into character and continued as if the blip hadn’t occurred, which is more than can be said for one of her co-stars," the website reported.
Despite the criticisms, however, some audience members were taken with the actress' debut.
"Loved love loved #speedtheplow !! @lindsaylohan was superb in the 3rd act! Such an amazing actress!!" wrote one.
