March 16 -- One down, nine to go: Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines gave birth to a baby boy yesterday in Austin, Texas, though she and her husband, actor Adrian Pasdar, said they were aiming for 10 when they married in June.

Jackson Slade Pasdar was born after a four-hour labor at an undisclosed hospital in the state capital, according to publicist Kathy Allmand. He weighed in at 6 pounds and measured 20 inches long. Mother and baby were reported to be doing very well.

This is the first child for Maines, 26, and Pasdar, her second husband, 35.

"He has sandy blond hair and Natalie's nose," fellow Dixie Chick Emily Robison said in a statement. "She made us very jealous. It was a very easy and fast delivery."

The Dixie Chicks have sold more than 17 million copies of their two major-label albums since the photogenic combo burst onto the country scene in 1998.

Allmand said the group is on hiatus, with a new album likely due next year. Pasdar stars in Mysterious Ways, a supernatural drama broadcast on the PAX TV channel.
