Lori Loughlin's co-stars talk sticking together 'no matter what' amid cheating scandal
Lori Loughlin is embroiled in a legal battle and has lost jobs from the scandal.
"Fuller House" took home the award for favorite funny TV show Sunday night at the 2019 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards.
Noticeably absent from the celebrations was Lori Loughlin, who is currently embroiled in a legal battle following fallout from the college admission scandal that broke earlier this month.
The rest of the cast, including Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin, took the stage to accept the award, and though they did not mention the actress by name, they spoke about standing behind one another as a family through both good times and bad.
"A loving family sticks together no matter what," Bure said. "They stick together through the hard times, they support each other, they encourage one another, they pray for each other and they stand by their side no matter how tough it gets."
Loughlin was one of the big names allegedly involved in the massive college admissions scam that included 50 people in a federal indictment. Days after news of the scandal broke, she was dropped from the Netflix show, along with the Hallmark Channel, where she has been featured in a number of movies in recent years.
Loughlin appeared in court over a week ago and was released on a $1 million secure bond following her arrest. According to court documents, she and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, "agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team -- despite the fact that they did not participate in crew -- thereby facilitating their admission to USC."
Loughlin isn't the only one in the family to lose work over the scandal. Sephora announced recently that they were dropping their partnership with Loughlin's daughter, Olivia Jade, who is a popular YouTube vlogger and a freshman at the University of Southern California.
As for the awards Sunday night, other winners included "Riverdale" for TV drama, and Ellen DeGeneres was voted favorite TV host.
"Avengers: Infinity War" took home favorite movie honors, with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man earning the Kids' Choice award for favorite superhero. "To All the Boys I've Loved Before's" Noah Centineo and "The Kissing Booth's" Joey King each walked off with blimps for favorite movie actor and actress.
In the music categories, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes each took home awards.
