The 2020 Grammy Awards had a melancholy feel with the passing of NBA basketball star Kobe Bryant.

But with respect to the late great, there were a few celebrities who still managed to make many of us feel a soft sense of excitement with their over-the-top ensembles worn on the red carpet.

One of the absolute most standout looks of the evening came from Billy Porter and his crystallized fringe hat.

The dropped fringe anchored around Porter's trippy headpiece was able to mechanically retract, revealing his face using Smooth Technology.

Along with his exaggerated topper, the "Pose" star also turned heads on the red carpet wearing a dazzling blue jumpsuit by Baja East.

Porter's makeup, featuring bright blue eye shadow and silver metallic lipstick, was a showstopper as well.

Another hard-to-miss ensemble came from Ariana Grande in her giant Giambattista Valli dress.

The pop star's elaborate gray ensemble included two voluminous tiers, ruching and lots of fluffy ruffles.

Grande wore matching colored gloves and her signature high ponytail in a platinum blond shade.

Last but not least, Lil Nas X came in high stride, lighting up the red carpet in a bright pink head-to-toe look.

While his look was a nod to his signature cowboy-themed hit, the studded pop of pink was a jaw-dropper

The "Old Town Road" singer's look was by Versace and accessorized with elaborate scarves worn on his cuffs.
