“He and my family are all die-hard, lifetime fans,” said his granddaughter.
— -- This die-hard Cubs fan was finally able to crack open the beer he waited three decades to enjoy.
“My grandpa put this beer in his fridge 32 years ago and said he would open it when the Cubs won the World Series. Today was that day,” Tom Johnson’s granddaughter, Grace Johnson, tweeted last night upon the Chicago team’s long-awaited victory.
Her post has since gone viral with more than 20,000 retweets as Cubs' fans across the nation collectively cheers him in celebration on social media.
Grace said her grandfather put the now vintage Coors in his fridge in 1984, and although he didn’t actually drink the beer, being able to pop that top was well worth the wait.
“He and my family are all die-hard, lifetime fans,” Grace, of Morris, Illinois, told ABC News.
