— -- The New Zealand Police started a chain reaction of cuteness on Twitter this week after they posted a picture of Tia the police cat, prompting another government agency to respond with cute photos of their own.

New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries followed up with a snapshot of their beagle, Rupert, sniffing incoming packages for biosecurity.

That prompted a "dog-off" between the police and the ministry, and the result was pure cuteness.

The furry feud's real winners were the Twitter users who got to follow along.
