Montana Primary Results

Based upon the analysis of the vote, Edison projects Steve Bullock to win the Montana Democratic Senate primary.

Montana made the switch to almost an entirely vote-by-mail election for the 2020 primaries. In early May, every voter was mailed a ballot to participate in the primary. No in-person voting locations were available, although voters were able to go to county election offices, according to state election officials. There are 19 delegates available for Democrats and 27 available for Republicans.

State significance

Montana is expected to have a competitive general election for both the Senate and the House this cycle. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders narrowly won the Democratic primary in 2016 with 51% of the vote.
