Mike Shanahan to have second interview with Dolphins
— -- Former Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is scheduled to talk with Miami Dolphins officials for a second time regarding Miami's head coaching job, league sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The meeting will come Tuesday in New York, Fox Sports was first to report. Shanahan first talked with the Dolphins two weeks ago.
The 63-year-old Shanahan's last NFL coaching job was with the Redskins, where he led the team from 2010-13, going 24-40 and making the playoffs once. His greatest success came with the Broncos, where he won two Super Bowls in a tenure that lasted from 1995 to 2008.
In addition to the Dolphins, Shanahan is likely to have some interest in the San Francisco 49ers' open head-coaching job, Schefter reports. Shanahan interviewed with the team last year.
The Dolphins are also scheduled to interview Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin on Tuesday and will interview Chicago Bears offense coordinator Adam Gase, Jacksonville Jaguars assistant coach Doug Marrone and the Dolphins' own interim coach, Dan Campbell, later this week, league sources told Schefter.
The Dolphins fired coach Joe Philbin earlier this season, and Campbell won five games in seven starts as the team finished 6-10.
