— -- The parents of a college football player received some exciting news about their son this week after learning he'd be starting in Saturday's big game.

Ohio State running back coach Tony Alford called the mom and dad of Mike Weber Jr. Wednesday to inform them that their son would be stepping onto the field as the starting tailback for the first time in his career.

"I wanted to give you a call, and one of the things that we do around here is we stay in contact with parents as you all know, and a lot of times parents get calls on negative stuff, and so this is a different one," Coach Alford said. "This is a call on something that's great."

He continued: "Coach Meyers calls the running back position the Cadillac position of this school and this football program, and your son has done a great job, and so I wanted to give you guys a call and let you know he is, today ... we're going to name him the starting tailback at Ohio State."

Weber's parents yelled in excitement.

"I know, right?" Alford responded, with a laugh. "We're excited for him, and so I wanted to tell you we appreciate yours and your wife's support and we're really excited for him. I'm fired up about it man ... He doesn't even know yet, so we're going to let him know that this afternoon, but I wanted to give you guys a call and let you know."

Mike Weber Jr. tweeted in response to the video of his coach's call to his parents writing, "Who I do it for."

Ohio State will face off against Bowling Green this weekend.
