Severe Storms Roll Through Southern States Overnight
Thousands are without power in Metro Atlanta.
— -- Severe storms barreled through several southern states Wednesday night and early this morning.
Fifty damaging storms were reported overnight from Kansas to Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.
Thunderstorm winds reportedly reached upwards of 60 mph, according to ABC News meteorologist Max Golembo.
Golf ball-size hail fell in parts of Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama.
Montgomery County, Alabama, officials said some trees were knocked down in a trailer park, where some trailers and cars were damaged, while only minor injuries were reported.
Officials says it's not entirely clear what caused the damage but there was a severe thunderstorm warning in the area when they got the call.
Lee County officials also reported trees, signs and fencing was knocked over outside Auburn, Alabama. The area was under two separate tornado warnings 30 minutes apart. No injuries were reported, except for minor scraps, according to authorities.
Storms also touched down in parts of Georgia, including metro Atlanta, where people are still cleaning up throughout the area.
According to Georgia Power, there were roughly 4,000 customers without power as of this morning.
