‘GMA’ Musical.ly Challenge Contest: 8 Quarterfinalists Revealed

— -- “GMA” launched a musical.ly challenge contest last week asking viewers to submit their own short music videos on the musical.ly app and people accepted, sending in more than 156,000 entries. Eight videos were selected as quarterfinalists in the first round of competition.

The videos were set to Jason Derulo’s “Want You to Want Me.” Below are the submitters of the videos chosen as the quarterfinalists:

Mario Selman, Boca Raton, Florida

Nathan Triska, Hardy, Arkansas

Cameron McLeod, Redwood City, California

Saudia Fernandez and Julia Raleigh, Taunton, Massachusetts

Michelle Foley, Terrah Holder and Savannah Soutas, Anaheim Hills, California

Kayce Brewer, Lincoln, California

Justin Burke, Austin, Texas

Brent Rivera, Orange County, California

Two of the eight quarterfinalists and two wild cards from the top 20 most liked videos as of the close of the second round will advance to round three in the challenge. Round two closes at 5 p.m. ET on 6/13/16, so go to #GMAChallenge2 on the musical.ly app and get your videos posted.

Musical.ly is a social media platform that allows users to create and share 15-second music videos of their favorite songs on their smartphones. Users -- who are called “musers” -- can edit the speed of the video, add filters and even play the video backwards before sharing it with others.

It’s one of the most popular apps among teens.
