Golden Globes 2016: Snubs and Surprises

Who scored a surprise nomination and who was snubbed, yet again.

Nominees for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning in 25 categories -- 14 in film and 11 in television. The awards will be handed out on Jan. 10 during the live broadcast hosted by Ricky Gervais.

Here's our list of snubs and surprises:

1. Blanchett vs. Mara

2. 'The Americans'

Despite being a critic's favorite, the FX series "The Americans," and its stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, were once again snubbed.

3. 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'

Another Globe favorite, Johnny Depp, was also overlooked for his spot-on role as Whitey Bulger in "Black Mass," which was also shut out. In the past, the Globes have recognized him for lesser work. Who can forget his nod for "The Tourist?"

5. Sylvester Stallone

6. Michael Keaton

7. Taraji P. Henson

Left out of the SAG nominations, "Empire" and its star Taraji P. Henson each picked up nods from the Globes.

8. 'Joy'
