'Bachelor' Winner Shayne Lamas Miscarries Following Pregnancy Complication
"Bachelor" winner Shayne Lamas-Richie has lost her baby following a pregnancy complication, her family said today.
"We are so grateful that my daughter, Shayne Lamas-Richie, is conscious and stable. She is not in a coma, however she did miscarry the child she was carrying," Shayne's father Lorenzo Lamas told People magazine. "We are so very grateful to the hospital personnel and the doctors who saved her life last night.
"Shayne is aware of her condition and that her family and her husband are here with her and love her so much," he said. "She will be remaining in the hospital until her doctors determine that she can be released."
Lamas, 28, reportedly collapsed in her Orange County home on Sunday, was taken to the hospital for bleeding around her uterus and lost her unborn child during emergency surgery. She was 16 weeks along in her pregnancy.
Watch: Matt Grant talk about "Bachelor" Season 12
The "General Hospital" actress was chosen by Matt Grant during the 12th season of "The Bachelor."
After she and Grant broke things off in 2008, she met and married Nik Richie in 2010. The couple welcomed daughter Press Dahl Lamas-Richie in November 2011.
Richie confirmed in January that he and his wife were very excited about having a second child together.
Early Monday morning, Richie took to Twitter to say, "I love you @ShayneDahlLamas."
He also posted on his site TheDirty.com, saying "I'm going to take some personal days off from the blogging world. Unfortunate things happen to good people. I'm not the best person in the world, but I love my wife and my family. Shayne is my good person. She is my support and my smile. I found you and I never want to let you go. We will overcome. Us 3."
