Lindsey Vonn posts body positive message with swimsuit photos: 'I’m not a size zero and that’s perfectly fine with me'
The Olympian told her Instagram followers she's "100% natural and 100% Lindsey."
Lindsey Vonn is a four-time Olympian, three-time Olympic medalist and routinely included in rankings of the world's greatest female athletes, and even she faces body shaming.
Vonn, 36, recently took to Instagram to hit back at her body critics, sharing that she is "100% natural and 100% Lindsey."
"Even as an athlete there are ruthless comments and media stories that tear apart my body and I admit it sometimes hurts me," Vonn wrote. "I’m a normal person and sometimes I slouch, my stomach folds over, my cellulite shows on my butt, or I don’t fill out my swimsuit top just right....But, I always remember how my body has helped me achieve amazing things in my life and I am proud of how strong I am."
"I’m not a size zero and that’s perfectly fine with me," Vonn wrote, while sharing a series of photos of herself in swimsuits.
Vonn also emphasized to her followers that what they are seeing on social media is authentically her.
"One thing I can promise all of you is that I never Photoshop my photos and am proud to officially never had any plastic surgery of any kind. No Botox, no fillers, no mini surgeries," she wrote. "Literally nothing. I am 100% natural and 100% Lindsey."
Vonn overcame multiple injuries during her nearly decade-long professional skiing career, which she retired from last year. She now often shares glimpses of her workouts with her two million Instagram followers.
In her latest post, the skier, who is engaged to NHL player P.K. Subban, encouraged her followers to keep their heads up "no matter what the haters say."
"So to anyone who is feeling self conscious or down about their appearance; stay strong, stay healthy and love yourself no matter what the haters say," Vonn wrote. "Special thanks to all of you who have been positive and supportive ... lets keep up the culture of body positivity going!"
