Jennifer Lawrence Is 'Awesome,' Says Pal Lily Collins
Everyone knows that actress Lily Collins is the daughter of '80's rock star Phil Collins, but in a new interview with Glamour Magazine that will hit the stands June 21, she reveals that she's also close with recent Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence.
"She's awesome," Collins said in an interview with Glamour magazine, on stands June 21. "I loved how she carried herself after her trip [going up onstage] at the Oscars. I was like, 'You go, girl!'
So it is fitting that, like Lawrence, Collins will star as Clary Fray in a movie based on a bestselling young adult book series, "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." The movie will be released on August 21.
"I'm so excited! I had read and really loved the books," Collins told the magazine<. "I want to make sure I live up to their [the fans'] expectations as Clary."
This is not Collins' first movie appearance; she was Collins Tuohy in "The Blind Side" in 2009, and most recently played, among other roles, Snow White in "Mirror Mirror." But she never used her famous last name to get ahead.
"I always wanted to do it on my own," she said. "I never wanted anyone making phone calls. A name can open doors, but there's a quote I like: 'Personality can open doors, but only character can kept hem open.'"
Plus, making her own way has allowed her to meet other rising stars.
"The friends I've made in this business, some of us started getting each other's phone numbers in audition rooms!" she said. "We were like, 'I see you all the time. Why are we not hanging out?'"
Now that she's in the spotlight, she insists that she's ready.
"I have become more cautious of making funny faces in public," she said.
