— -- Patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta teamed up with their favorite staffers for extra-special Halloween costumes.

"Mekhi Elizondo is an 11-year-old-boy from Poulan, Georgia. He was diagnosed with Joubert syndrome; a rare genetic disorder that affects brain development, at Children’s when he was 3 months old," the hospital said. "Mekhi’s grandmother shared that he is a superhero in his own right, he loves to ride elevators and he never met a stranger. His nurse Ashley Rinehart was raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia Medical College and her passion for helping others started back in high school when she volunteered in special education."

"Tripp Lasseter is a 6-year-old-boy from Adel, Georgia. He was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in July of 2016 at Children’s Aflac Cancer Center. He is a proud big brother to a 3-month-old baby girl and he loves to play soccer," the hospital said. "His mom says that Lauren Whaley, his child life specialist, is his favorite at Children’s. Lauren is from Atlanta, Georgia, and she studied child life at East Carolina University. She has been at Children’s since July 2014. She says she admires Tripp’s spirit."

"Gabrielle Grier is a 5-year-old girl from Atlanta, Georgia. She is treated at Children’s for her Asthma. Gabby loves to get her nails painted and play outside with her friends. Megan Savransky studied nursing at Georgia College and State University and has been a nurse at Children’s for four years."

"Kambria Lagroon is an 8-year-old Neuroblastoma patient," the hospital said. "Her child life specialist Jessica Westbrooks and nurse Stacey Howard work in Children’s Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Outpatient Clinic. Jessica says she became a child life specialist because she loves empowering people with understanding to ease fears and also loves working with kids."
