The oldest known time capsule in the U.S., which was buried by Samuel Adams and Paul Revere, was opened Jan. 6, 2015. It was buried under a cornerstone of the Massachusetts State House. Pamela Hatchfield, Robert P. and Carol T. Henderson Head of Objects Conservation at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Michael Comeau, Executive Director, Massachusetts Archives, presented the 10-pound brass box that measures 5.5 inches by 7.5 inches by 1.5 inches.
