May 15, 2010 -- You spoke, we listened and it all came down to four finalists.
First, The Breakfast Klub, a unique Houston eatery that offers a selection of breakfast classics with a Southern twist. Their specialty is Wings and Waffles, a concept created during the height of the Harlem Renaissance. It is one hot Belgian-style pecan waffle, topped with strawberries and bananas, dusted with powdered sugar and surrounded by six crispy chicken wings.

We found our next finalist nestled deep in the mountains of West Asheville, N.C. The Sunny Point Cafe, founded by the mother/daughter team of Belinda Raab and April Moon Harper, serves dishes made from local, organic ingredients. Their specialty is Huevos Rancheros: savory black bean cakes served with chorizo sausage, feta cheese and eggs. It is garnished with roasted tomatillo salsa, red-skinned potatoes, cilantro crema and topped with crispy tortilla strips.

Next, we traveled up to Door County, Wis., known as "Cherryland USA." Door County is one of the country's leading producers of Montmorency cherries, with more than 2,000 acres of orchards. Cherries can be seen in just about every type of dish, including the White Gull Inn's signature cherry-stuffed French toast -- two golden slices of egg bread, with pockets of Wisconsin cream cheese and cherries, served with maple syrup.

Finally, we ended our journey in Portsmouth, N.H., at The Friendly Toast. This retro diner's specialty is King Cakes -- two chocolate chip banana pancakes, sandwiched between a creamy layer of peanut butter, topped with a dollop of whipped cream, with bacon on the side.
