Meet the Bureau Chiefs

A talented group of students run the ABC News On Campus bureaus.

— -- Nathan Bense, bureau chief, is a senior at Syracuse University majoring in broadcast journalism, policy studies, and history. He returned to Syracuse after having spent his spring 2009 semester in London.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Bense has a strong interest in the issues that plague the midsized cities of upstate New York. As an active member of the community at home and at school, Bense loves meeting new people and hearing their stories. He is excited about how new technology allows stories to be told in ways that better engage the audience.

Ever since he was little, Bense has loved the news. Whenever a fire truck passed, he wanted to know what happened and who was affected. In high school, Nathan served as an editor-in-chief of the student newspaper. While at Syracuse, he has reported for a variety of campus media, including Citrus TV News, WAER public radio, and CONNECT, a student produced public affairs program airing on the Syracuse ABC affiliate WSYR. In the past two years, Nathan has interned in the newsrooms of WROC-TV (CBS) and WHAM-TV (ABC) in Rochester. He also was a marketing intern at Home HeadQuarters, Inc., a non-profit in Syracuse.

When not checking the latest news updates, Bense can often be found taking pictures, going for a walk, or reading a book.
