"Sex and the City's" Mr. Big avoided marriage for a really long time and it turns out that the actor that played him, Chris Noth did exactly the same thing.

The 57-year-old actor who now stars on "The Good Wife" and his longtime girlfriend, Tara Wilson, 30, finally settled down last week. The couple married in a sunset ceremony in Maui on April 6, a spokesperson for Christopher Noth told ABCNews.com. Their 4-year-old son Orion served as the ring bearer.

It seems like Carrie and Mr. Big dated for 30 years but in reality it was about 10 years. Art imitating life?  Sort of.  Mr. Big was Carrie Bradshaw's off-and-on love interest through the show and the movies.

Tara Wilson met Noth while working at his New York bar, The Cutting Room, in 2002 and it seems like it has only been only ON since then. They announced their engagement in 2009, the year after their son was born.

Talking to Redbook in 2010 for the premiere of the movie "Sex In the City," Noth said that in real life with Wilson he is a romantic. "I always think it's the little things that count," he said, adding that "love letters were a big part of my romantic life when I was younger. I feel sad that we're living in a culture that doesn't write letters anymore - it's a lost art. It's something that adds dimension to the romantic life. Emails and texts just don't cut it."

As for marriage after a long relationship, Noth thought that the movie was "a great look into Carrie and Big's relationship and what marriage means to them. No matter how long you've know someone, marriage changes some things in unexpected ways. And it's a learning process for Carrie and Big."

Maybe for Chris Noth and Tara Wilson too.
