Kim Kardashian Tells Oprah Winfrey of 'Deep Depression' After Divorce
ABC News' Paula Faris and Ross Eichenholz report:
Kim Kardashian told Oprah Winfrey in an interview for OWN's "Oprah's Next Chapter" that she went into a "deep depression" following her 72-day marriage to basketball star Kris Humphries and almost walked away from the spotlight because of it.
"I was in such a deep depression I thought I was going to back away from it all," said Kardashian. "You know when you just have that feeling that he's the one? When we moved in I had the feeling he was not the one."
When Winfrey pressed the reality star about the wedding being a publicity stunt, Kardashian denied the claim.
"If anything, the tough decision to end that relationship was such a risk of losing ratings, losing my fan base, but I had to take that risk for myself," said Kardashian.
Despite the short marriage that ended in a bitter divorce that was splashed all over the tabloids, Kardashian has no ill-will toward her ex.
"He's a good person. I will always have a place in my heart for him. It just wasn't for me," said Kardashian.
After all the inner turmoil and public scrutiny, Kardashian says she is now stronger than ever - an answer that left Winfrey floored.
"I've obviously made plenty of mistakes in my lifetime, but I'm not the type to sit and beat myself up over it," said Kardashian. "If a real lesson was learned, I'm so okay with having experienced that."
"That is so perfect I could weep," replied Winfrey.
The TV titan scored a rare sit-down interview with all four siblings at the same time - Kim, sisters Kourtney and Khloe and brother Rob - about "mom-ager" Kris Jenner.
"What do you say to people, you've heard it, when people say your mother is pimping her children," asked Winfrey."
"That's so ridiculous. We have to hire a manager, why not hire our mother?" said Kim. "No one will fight harder for you than your own mother."
The Kardashians made it clear that all their fame and fortune has not changed the close-knit clan.
"I still am not comfortable being famous," said Kourtney.
"Nobody would believe the Kardashians aren't comfortable being famous," said Winfrey.
"I never use the word famous or celebrity," said Kim. Young brother Rob added: "I hate the word. Sounds like you're talking about yourself arrogantly."
Next Sunday night OWN will air the second part of the interview with the Kardashian clan, which will feature Kim's candid comments about her relationship with Kanye West and sit-down interviews with Khloe and her husband, Lamar Odom, and Kourtney and her boyfriend, Scott Disick.
