While reminiscing about his "spectacular mane" of "unruly wonderfulness" in 1986's "Pretty in Pink," Jon Cryer confessed to Conan O'Brien that he's nearly bald.

"It's gone now," Cryer told O'Brien on his show Monday.

Pointing to the close-cropped mane that he sports as his character on "Two and a Half Men," the 48-year-old actor admitted, "This is an elaborate illusion. This is the work of several talented professionals making the most of, like, four hairs."

Cryer explained that to get the look is a "long, involved process that starts with stuff like shoe polish, basically, that they coat your scalp at the top. "

"They basically just paint - they get a roller type thing - and just whoosh along the top," he added.

"You have to decide if you're going to go full [John] Travolta and get the full front in," he joked about the actor's famous widow's peak. "And then they literally sprinkle powder in from a salt shaker. So this is, like I said, four or five hairs."

Asked by O'Brien what happens if he gets caught in the rain, Cryer responded with a laugh, "You're out of luck. It flattens out and you can get the nice little rivulets going down. But thankfully, your eyebrows will channel down the side."
