Gisele Bundchen's Glam Breastfeeding Photo Stirs Debate

Gisele Bundchen is the highest-paid model in the world, a mother of two and wife of a Super Bowl-winning NFL quarterback, so it's no surprise the supermodel is also a no-nonsense multitasker.

What is surprising to moms across the country is that Bundchen, 33, chose to share a photo of herself in the most glamorous multitasking moment possible, nursing her 1-year-old daughter, Vivian, while simultaneously getting her hair styled, her nails manicured and her face made up.

"What would I do without this beauty squad after the 15 hours flying and only three hours of sleep #multitasking #gettingready," the Brazilian beauty wrote on Instagram Tuesday, also taking time out of her schedule to translate the caption into Portuguese.

The photo of Bundchen, the wife of New England Patriots' star Tom Brady, nursing in a white bathrobe stirred controversy as soon as it appeared online, with moms both attacking her and coming to her defense.

"I think breastfeeding is a very personal thing," Denise Albert, co-creator of TheMoms.com, told ABC News. "And for her to put this on Instagram while she's getting her hair and make-up done is a little outrageous, and I think obnoxious."

"Looks like the most regular thing in the world. Sweet," tweeted @LVolpintesta.

Bundchen's photo was particularly picked apart because the supermodel is not known for holding back on her opinions on everything from motherhood to healthy eating.

"Some people here (in the U.S.) think they don't have to breastfeed, and I think 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?'" she told Harper's Bazaar UK in 2010 after having her son, Benjamin. "I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months."

When it came to staying fit during pregnancy, Bundchen told Vogue that, while pregnant with Benjamin, she did yoga and was practicing kung fu "up until two weeks" before giving birth.

"I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals," she told the magazine, adding that she gained only 30 pounds.

Bundchen also chose to give birth to both Benjamin and Vivian at home, in the family's bathtub, something the supermodel described as a "natural" experience in the documentary "Business of Being Born."

"My job as a mom that I felt at that moment was just to breathe, relax and allow my body and trust my body to do what it knows, naturally knows what to do," Bundchen said.

"It wasn't painful, not even a little bit," the supermodel also told the Brazilian TV show Fantastico. "The second day, I was walking, I was washing dishes, I was making pancakes in the kitchen."

In July Bundchen was criticized after posting photos of then- 7-month-old Vivian with pierced ears.

Brady and Bundchen, who tied the knot in 2009, were named in September to Forbes' Highest-Earning Celebrity Couple list with an estimated worth of $80 million.
