The notoriously private Kerry Washington has finally acknowledged motherhood on, not surprisingly, Mother's Day.

"Well… I still wont talk about my personal life on here But… I see your tweets. And I am filled with gratitude! XO #HappyMothersDay," she tweeted Sunday.

The "Scandal" star has kept her private life under-wraps. She married former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha last July in a secret ceremony in Blaine County, Idaho, and never officially announcing her pregnancy.

According to a birth certificate posted by TMZ, Washington, 37, gave birth to a daughter, Isabelle Amarachi, on April 21.

Following months of rumors and unconfirmed reports, the ABC TV star debuted her baby bump at the Golden Globes in January, saying, "I have the best date of the night - my little accessory," she said.

Washington later opened up about the challenges of Washington, D.C. fixer Olivia Pope while pregnant.

"I work very physically as an actor. The biggest thing for me has been the challenge of how to be this person [Olivia Pope] with the personal transformation that's going on for me physically and how to stay true to this character. That hasn't been easy," she told the Hollywood Reporter. "It's been an awesome challenge for me as an actor because so much of how I access character is through my body. It's definitely been complicated to say the least. I've learned a lot about other ways to access Olivia and be her."
