One Year Anniversary of Yahoo!-ABC News Alliance

This morning ABC News President Ben Sherwood sent the following note to ABC News staff.

Today is a special day here at ABC News.

Twelve months ago ABC News and Yahoo! announced a groundbreaking strategic alliance, joining together to alter the delivery of news and information across the digital landscape. Today we celebrate the one year anniversary of the Yahoo!-ABC News Network and our collaborative efforts across all platforms. The Yahoo!-ABC News Network is now the #1 news network on the web, boasting an average monthly reach of over 85 million unique users since the launch.

Almost 50% of all general news videos watched online come from the Yahoo!-ABC News Network. Today, more people get their news online from the Yahoo!-ABC News Network than any other website…and without your hard work, this would not be possible.

Since we announced our alliance with Yahoo! News one year ago today, the Yahoo!-ABC News Network continues to lead the charge in online news, reaching the largest digital audience across all platforms. In just one year, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! has quickly become the number one morning news site, leading MSNBC's Today.com by millions of unique users and page views.

The Yahoo!-ABC News Network has not only proved its editorial strength, but we continue to create and drive new advertising opportunities across all properties that have exceeded our financial goals, with sponsorships from Edward Jones to Poland Spring and the Dish Network.

The success of our five original digital video series and our live video events over the past year truly demonstrate the tremendous team work and talent that exists across ABC News and Yahoo! News. Our five video series include "Newsmakers," "Around the World with Christiane Amanpour," "This Could be Big," "Power Players," and "Katie's Take . " Since the launch, nearly 351 million total minutes were spent watching these combined five original digital video series on the Yahoo!-ABC News Network.

Over the past year, we have worked with Yahoo! to stream several major events including the GOP debates in New Hampshire and Iowa, 7 GOP candidate interviews, Super Tuesday and most recently, the Republican and Democratic National Conventions anchored by Amy Walter and Rick Klein. ABC News anchors and correspondents came together to make our RNC and DNC coverage online a spectacular event.

Tonight, for the first time ever, ABC News and Yahoo! News' celebrate another accomplishment. This evening, ABC News Digital's co-branded live stream coverage of the debates will be featured across the YouTube Elections Hub, offering our all-star political coverage to an even larger digital audience.

The entire news division has contributed to the success of the Yahoo!-ABC News partnership and I want to thank each of you for your incredible work this year. I also want to thank our friends at Yahoo! for their leadership and commitment to our shared success.

A special salute to Joe Ruffolo, architect of this important relationship, and the entire ABC News Digital team and ABC sales force for a strong first year and job well done.

Here's to even bigger and better days ahead.
