Authorities Suspect Foul Play After Tennessee Woman Disappears
Investigators in Nashville, Tenn., believe foul play led to the disappearance of a 37-year-old mother.
Nichole Burgess was last seen May 23. Police were called to her home after a friend of Burgess' said she received a disturbing text from her.
Police found her purse in her car and her two dogs unattended, officials said. They haven't released what the text message said.
Friends say Burgess would never leave her dogs alone for a long period of time. She also had a 10-year-old son, who was staying at his father's when she disappeared.
"There are a number things about this particular matter with Nichole Burgess that greatly concerns the police department," said Don Aaron of the Metro Police Department.
Worried friends started a Facebook page dedicated to spreading Burgess' story in the hopes she'll be found.
"People are very concerned," Shannon Million told ABC News. "I think that everybody has their own ideas - hearing the story, hearing who maybe had last seen her - we are just hoping that she shows up"
Burgess' boyfriend Jay Henry told ABC News affiliate WKRN-TV in Nashville that he last talked to Burgess just before 2 p.m. the day she disappeared.
"She was planning to leave Nashville and head to Sparta and Crossville within the hour. That was the last contact I had with this wonderful, beautiful lady," he said.
A neighbor of Burgess told WKRN-TV that he saw a car back up into her driveway the day she went missing.
"Nobody backs up into the driveway over here," Burgess' neighbor David Underwood told WKRN-TV.
Police haven't named a person of interest in the case.
