Hershey's Kisses are one of the most popular chocolate candies in America. The bite-sized candies have a tear-drop shape wrapped in aluminum foil. Where did the candy get its name?

"There's a belt the chocolate goes down, it pulls up, makes a little kiss sound, and that's where legend says the name came from," said Philomena Krosmico, director of manufacturing for West Hershey (Pa.) and Reese plants.

Here are a few fun facts about Kisses:

  • 70 million Hershey's Kisses are produced everyday at the factory;
  • The machines run 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
  • Enough Kisses are produced annually to form a line more than 300,000 miles long.
