Denny's to Debut Hobbit-Themed Menu
Starting Nov. 6, Denny's restaurants will debut a limited-time, Middle Earth-themed menu for fans of the upcoming Hobbit movie.
The first of three films based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," will be released Dec. 14.
"We were inspired by the imaginative world of Middle-earth and wanted to offer fellow fans an equally inspired food
experience to share in the excitement and anticipation for the upcoming debut," Francis Allen, chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
The menu will include 11 new items for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The dishes include Pumpkin Patch Pancakes, Frodo's Pot Roast Skillet, Gandalf's Gobble Melt and Hobbit Hole Skillet. Radagast's Red Velvet Pancake Puppies are red velvet hush puppies made with chocolate chips, dusted with confectioner's sugar and served with a side of cream cheese icing. Customers who order select entrees get a trading card pack with collectible trading cards and restaurant coupons.
Restaurant place mats will also contain four QR codes that diners can scan with their cellphones for exclusive video content.
In 2001, Burger King partnered with "Lord of the Rings" by offering customers a collectible cup and toys, along with onion rings with a new dipping sauce.
The Denny's menu will be available until January.
