Can't make it to the GOP convention in Tampa? Tech fans, fret not: There's an app for that.

The Republican National Convention host committee today launched its free mobile app, " Tampa 2012," as part of its " Convention Without Walls" social media push.

The app will allow live stream convention coverage, social media plug-ins and a slew of visitor-friendly features, like Florida maps, weather information and local news.

"Four years ago, at the last convention, iPhones and other smart phones were just making their debut," said Ken Jones, president of the convention host committee, in a statement.

"Now, these devices are everywhere, and we have the fantastic opportunity to provide our guests, and the public who are interested in the convention, with a mobile application that is cutting edge, easy to use and fun."

Central to the app is a calendar feature that will update to release day-to-day convention schedules ahead of time. Users can view the convention's master calendar here or add their own events.

The map feature highlights taxi services, shuttle routes and locations of local businesses that accept the GOParty Card, which offers dining, shopping and sightseeing discounts.

And to rev up business in the Tampa area, the app also includes local trivia, a link to the GOP store and a scavenger hunt feature where users compete for prizes by scanning various QR codes at local stores and attractions.

The app was developed by AT&T and is available on Apple iOS devices and Android platforms. Blackberry and other smart phone users can access the app on the convention's website.

The Democratic National Convention Committee launched its first-ever app last week.
