Redbox is offering a free DVD rental from those fiery entertainment kiosks on Thursday in celebration of two billion movie and game rentals.

The company is offering free, one-night DVD rentals on March 8 with the promo code, THANKS2U, according to the Redbox Facebook page. The code expires at 11:59:59 p.m. CT.

The company, based in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., said its two billionth disc was the movie, "Drive," featuring Ryan Gosling. It was rented at a McDonald's restaurant in Philomath, Ore. over the weekend.

Redbox said it has over 29,000 locations across the country with a presence in every state.

Coinstar Inc., which owns Redbox, said on Feb. 6 its earnings almost tripled after Redbox kiosks picked up customers who left Netflix after the latter announced its failed pricing policy. The quarterly performance was much better than analysts expected.
