Lennon bought the car in 1965 right after he got his driver's license. He personally handpicked it from a selection of Maseratis, Aston Martins, and Jaguars luxury car dealers sent him, according to Bonhams' website.

That same year the Beatles coincidentally debuted their single "Ticket to Ride" which reached No. 1 in the United States and the United Kingdom, according to Bonhams.

According to a driver's log book, which comes with the car, Lennon drove 20,000 miles in the Ferrari between 1965 and 1968.
