Indonesian Sportswear Manufacturer Apologizes for Controversial Label

Indonesian sportswear maker Salvo Sports is apologizing this weekend after including a controversial label on one of its products.

On the shirts of a top-level Indonesian soccer team, the company included the washing instructions "give this jersey to your woman. It's her job," BBC News reports.

At least one Twitter user snapped a photograph of the instructions.

The label drew plenty of criticism, and on Sunday, International Women's Day, the company apologized in a series of posts on Twitter. The intent, the company claims, was that men should learn from women how to properly take care of clothing.

The company denies that there was any intent to demean women.
