‘Two and a Half Men’: How They Killed Off Charlie (Harper) Sheen
Spoiler alert!
The new season of “Two and a Half Men” opened with a coffin and Alan (Jon Cryer) giving a eulogy for his brother, Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen).
“It’s a sad day for all of us,” Alan says, and blond woman at the service yells out, “speak for yourself.”
This is followed by more revelry and in quick succession, gals in the audience say, “He gave me herpes,” “Chlamydia,” and a third quipped, “Vaginal warts.”
Charlie’s brother turns the honors over to Rose, his brother’s stalker on the show (Melanie Lynskey), who was with him when he died. So how did he die?
Charlie slipped on a Metro platform in Paris and fell into an on-coming train, and his body just exploded like a balloon full of meat, Rose said.
After the familiar “Two and a Half Men” theme song, Charlie’s ashes were delivered to the apartment in the mail. When Alan accidentally drops Charlie’s remains, we see Ashton Kutcher through the cloud of ashes.
He comes in through the balcony and asks to use the phone. The stranger, who apparently tried to kill himself over his wife leaving him, finally introduces himself. He is Waldon Schmidt.
Waldon, who threw himself in the ocean in despair over a woman (something Charlie would never do), likes to walk around naked and picks up right where Charlie left off. He goes out for drinks with Alan and has sex with two women the first night.
He has moved right in.
Schmidt says, “I dig your house. I think I’m going to buy it.”

Two things died tonight….Charlie Harper and the show Two and a Half Men. Chuck Lorre failed BIG.

I agree with Laura….Two and a Half Men is OVER! It bombed…..BIG!

Couldn’t agree more with you Laura. Big let down. Let’s hope Mr. Lorre gets Big Bang Theory right at least. Horrible premiere

Im a huge Charlie Sheen fan, but I dont think the new Two and a half men bombed. Its not the same without Charlie Harper, but Ashton Kutcher is an interesting character. The show has potential is you keep your mind open.

I’ve seen ever episode at least four or five times. After tonight I will strictly be a “re-run” guy. New show is an embarassment to the network and even makes me lose some respect for Ashton

sadly Ashton Kutcher is considered talented, and no matter how many times we complain about how the show sucks now, that moron kutcher will still be around to make money, how can an idiot like him be considered talented. He is such a goof

One of the funniest shows ever – really caught me by surprise – my expextations were so high, I knew I would be disappointed – NOT – But how in the heck are they going to maintian such a level?
Posted by: fujijon | September 19, 2011, 11:26 pm 11:26 pm
Ashton Kutcher is a horrible actor. Whoever decided to replace Charlie with him is an idiot. They’re on completely different levels of comedy. The show can continue, but it should be renamed and deemed a spin-off. It not longer is “Two and a Half Men”.
Posted by: Madeline | September 19, 2011, 11:46 pm 11:46 pm
Hi all. I watched tonights premier with an open mind, but it’s just not the same show without Charlie. I have no negative comments about Kutcher’s acting ability; I just think his comedic style is not right for this show. I felt his timing was not in sync with the show or the other characters. Simply put, he’s just not the right guy for this shows fan base and this style comedy. It looked to me like he was attempting to pull in “That 70′s Show” style, but it was all wrong for show. Honestly, I can’t think of any replacement for Charlie on this show; so I guess we all need to call it a wash and find a new show to surrender our loyalty to.

ahhh…. BORING

Now I know why I couldn’t make it past 2 minutes of that 70′s show…… BRING BACK CHARLIE…BRING BACK CHARLIE!!!!!!!
Posted by: Carolyn | September 20, 2011, 12:18 am 12:18 am
I watched “Two Men” with an open mind and was still mildy disappointed. If the rest of the season is gonna be how Waldon broods around the house because of his ex dumping him, yet still scores as often as Charlie…well, that plot doesn’t interest me in the least. The show is combining Charlie’s character (his success with the ladies) with Allen’s (still hurting from his divorces) and that adds up to a “been there, done that” scenario. For the record, Ashton is NOT trying to re-create is “70′s show” character by being ditzy. The writers decided his personality and he’s portraying it the best way he can. You know. ACTING.
Posted by: Ray | September 20, 2011, 12:21 am 12:21 am
I prayed so hard for this show to be great, for Charlie’s sake. He needs a break to get better and start life on the right track. But! I was sooooo disappointed. I have watched the show’s reruns many many times and still find them entertaining and funny but this new format was lame and boring. Will I tune in again? I don’t think so, I like to watch the reruns and keep laughing……
Maybe Rose is keeping Charlie in a coma for next season and he’ll come back to save it…..
Posted by: Marie | September 20, 2011, 12:29 am 12:29 am
I really wanted to like this, but can’t see it workng as a series with Ashton Kucher doing a warmed-over Jim Ignatowski character (from Taxi) to Alan Cryer’s neurotic Alan Harper. Chuck Lorre should have done the smart thing, extended the funeral scene and Alan’s angst over the house, wrapped with Walden buring the house with enough money for Alan to move out, and made this an hour-long conclusion for last season.
Posted by: Publius | September 20, 2011, 12:37 am 12:37 am
We gave the show an honest “try”. Sorry Rose, Berta, and Evelyn. We will miss you.
We think this is not Ashton’s vehicle. We wish him luck at his other ventures.
We think Chuck Lorre might have some disillusions about his own “genius”
Posted by: Marty | September 20, 2011, 1:11 am 1:11 am
Even David Letteman made it clear that the new Two and half men was terrible.Aston Kutcher is an actor for the mindless. Oh by the way, the way he acted on that 70′s show is the way he act’s in real life. He acted the same way on his show punked. Kutcher is a comedian for the simple minded. What did his wife Demi once say? ( I don’t have 3 kid’s I have 4, including Ashton) cause he acts so goofy. All I saw was Him trying to act like Kelso from that 70′s show. He couldn’t keep that 70′s show going after Topher grace (Eric) left and he won’t keep two and a half men going. It takes a certain person to enjoy a dufus like Kutcher lame attempt at acting. Plus he’s getting a tad bit old to play the mindless simpleton.

Huge mistake. What a bomb. Bring back Charlie!
Posted by: Darryl | September 20, 2011, 3:08 am 3:08 am
Well I liked it. Loved the little nods to Dharma and Greg, too. Charlie’s antics had lost their charm a few seasons back, nothing to do with C Sheen; let’s just say C Harper’s demise was no surprise, it was inevitable. For those of you calling “bring back Charlie”? – not gonna happen. And apparently Ihave more faith in the supporting cast than many of you. It was not the Charlie Sheen Show.

Sorry Charlie/ just the same thing/can’t you develop Waldo without all of the sex and drinking/I think we should get to know him and not try to be another Charlie(can’t be replaced)

My son and I never missed a show. He’s gone now but I know he’d boycott this POS with me. It was SO good while it lasted. Now it’s over. I was right not to watch it. (PS I’m glad the other two actors at least have jobs for another year.)

Jury is still out for me. I hope the new “shtick” isn’t going to be Kutcher running around naked.
Posted by: NoSpin1600 | September 20, 2011, 8:28 am 8:28 am
The of the article should be ‘How they killed 2 1/2 Men’, Not how they killed Charlie. The new show is a disaster, Ashton Kutcher is just not that funny. He was ok as the goofball on 70′s Show but that’s about his limit. And the jokes? Not funny at all. The whole show, right from the dumb way they killed off Charlie (and the very stupid comments), was lame. Used to be very funny, watched one of the older ones on MyFox later that night. Now that one was funny.

Posted by: samyah shennaq | September 20, 2011, 8:48 am 8:48 am
I cant even say I was disappointed because I wasn’t expecting much. I guess the producers are going after that demographic that somehow finds Aston Kutcher to be funny.
Posted by: wsmith | September 20, 2011, 8:57 am 8:57 am
Jon Lovitz: “How much blow can Charlie Sheen do? Enough to kill two and a half men.”…….. This Question and answer is true in 2 ways….. Charlie did a lot of blow, and 2 and a half men are dead. Kutcher is not an actor, nor is he funny.. he is a simpleton and some people think he is cute. If 2 and half men last the season, I would be very surprised… either way, I won’t be watching it.
Posted by: anotherday | September 20, 2011, 9:07 am 9:07 am
Dumb…dumb…dumb…and boring, boring and more boring. He’s NOTHING compared to Charlie but Charlie was getting old and how many women can you sleep with anyway, either on the show or off? Pathetic. The show had a good run. Let it die a respectable death and go out on top of the charts and not wait until it’s cancelled due to no one watching anymore. Geez!
Posted by: Chickadee23 | September 20, 2011, 9:27 am 9:27 am
I read the bits that were available before the airing; it sounded horribly lame. The first 1/3 of the episode is devoted to psychopathic attempts at humor, apparently written by people who had no idea what was the magic of Charlie Harper. Jenna Elfman walks through reprising her role as Dharma (with Greg). Waldon Schmidt ($1.3B from a software sale to MS) is a flat character made even more so by the show’s preoccupation with descriptions of him (billionaire, genius, “tripod”). Despite this, Alan Harper is the dead weight on the show; Schmidt is lame, but shows at least a glimmer of potential for becoming the comic relief. Jake (now “16″) provides drama; Berta is as lovable as ever. Rose was simply abused in this episode: she deserved MUCH better. Judith seems sexier, is married to Herb; except for Elfman (who looked hideous: she should’ve just phoned-it-in) and a couple of faces from the funeral, the guests appeared unattractive and were too easily forgettable. Evelyn Harper was delightfully herself, and mostly saved the episode. Even so, it was a remarkably poor launch for the show: if this is what Lorre intends for the rest of the season, I doubt all the episodes for which he’s paying Kutcher will make it to air.
Posted by: Havaneiss Dei | September 20, 2011, 9:27 am 9:27 am
The show is now officially LAME. Kutcher’s not funny. He’s a poser. He poses , they take a shot , cougars eat it up. I’m no cougar. Charlie Sheen is needed for the show to be worth anything. Oh well.
Posted by: hhh | September 20, 2011, 9:29 am 9:29 am
OMG, it wasn’t Charlie that died, 2 & 1/2 men died. The “show” was a total failure. The show was chopped up, the writing was boring, AK’s acting and part were boring, and the plot was boring. (I get so tired of hearing AK brag about how “hung” he says he is, they even inserted it in the “comedy last night”) JC could never carry the show alone. He’s funny, but only as Charlie’s side kick. JC and AK just don’t click. We will be skipping Monday night with CBS at 8:00 pm. Curiosity killed this cat. What a waist of air time. Thank goodness the Roasting of Charlie followed on another channel, so, Monday night was still filled with Charlie. We LOL during the whole show.
2 1/2 MEN DIED LAST NIGHT.

Charlie Sheen seems to have pulled himself together now and admitted that he would have fired himself too. I’ll bet he comes back to the show after the Kutcher bomb. They can definitely make up some crazy story to account for his return. Nobody ever actually saw Charlie Harper’s body; or they could go the Bobby Ewing route and say it was a dream.
Posted by: america2929 | September 20, 2011, 9:37 am 9:37 am
I agree, if you want to save the show, you have to bring back Charlie. How about this one Chuck, maybe Rose made it all up (after all, if charlie exploded there would have been no body). Rose really has Charlie tied up in her basement. Charlie comes back and saves the show (with come ongoing new material about Rose the physco chick).
Posted by: pgdion | September 20, 2011, 9:52 am 9:52 am
I am a big fan of Charlie Harper and the show. I thought the funeral was funny and I laughed through the whole show. I think Ashton did a great job and he is definately a looker. It will be interesting to see how it rolls out but I think they can pull it off. I don’t think bringing back Charlie is going to work because that’s too much water under the bridge. Best to let him rest in peace. I wasn’t sure about Ashton but I think it just might turn out to be even a better show. The Charlie legend was getting old and creepy.
Posted by: Saints Fan | September 20, 2011, 10:04 am 10:04 am
I think it’s gonna make it. Ashton is so hot and he is funny. It looks like Rose killed Charlie and all his ex women made him look like a walking STD. I will continue to watch.
Posted by: LW | September 20, 2011, 10:14 am 10:14 am
CBS would have been better off setting 2-1/2 out to pasture a couple of years ago. The only one who always finds Ashton Kutcher funny is Ashton Kutcher…smiling at his own jokes even when they’re not funny. He’s no actor, and that was painfuly obviously last night, too. When writers have to resort to fart jokes with the way-more-than-1/2 man, you know the show’s in trouble.
Posted by: glofish54 | September 20, 2011, 10:24 am 10:24 am
Someone wrote, “Kutcher is not an actor, nor is he funny.. he is a simpleton…”
LOL! Yet he’s managed to build himself a multi million dollar entertainment empire, and marry a beautiful woman. Yeah, what a simpleton……….

Two and half Men really was awful.. Not funny at all.. Rose killing Charlie just doesn’t make sense.. Rose would never do that. She already new he was a Womanizer.. and could never comitt to one woman, so that story line was soooo unbelievable.. Jake loved Charlie.. he wasn’t even sad. I tried to have a open mind abut the show without Charlie but it just DOESNT work… 2 & 1/2 men is over… Charlie made the show, made it funny.. Berta should follow Charlie to his new show… Now that’s gonna be funny….
Posted by: Debra Dunlap | September 20, 2011, 10:32 am 10:32 am
I thought the show was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. Then again, I remember when it first started, I didn’t like it at all. I’ll give it a couple more episodes before I decide whether or not I think they have the requisite chemistry to make an entertaining, funny and sustainable situation comedy…………
Posted by: Searambler | September 20, 2011, 10:32 am 10:32 am
Have Rose kidnap Charlie, holding him hostage…the body was just so mangled, “meat”, and then he escapes and comes back. Otherwise, bye bye show. Ashton’s a great actor but it is just not the same w/o Charlie.

The whole program was awful, except for the last few seconds. Bring back Charlie, make this episode someone’s dream and bring back Charlie, or just kill the whole program. Was very painful to watch, even Allen’s character was not funny at all without Charlie to balance it out. BAD, BAD, BAD!
Posted by: Terry | September 20, 2011, 11:37 am 11:37 am
Although I like Ashton, he just didn’t seem to fit in. It just didn’t work for me. BRING BACK CHARLIE! It’s not too late. Two and a half Men will never make it without him. Very disappointed. We didn’t see a body, so this could have all been a mix up. Please bring Charlie back!!!!!!!

I think the writers and producers forgot about the audience in this episode and instead concentrated on twenty million ways to crush Charlie Sheen and be disrespectful to his character. The way Rose described his death was disrespectful and stupid. He had 10 million STDs and not a single tear was shed over his death. Even Jake didn’t seem to care his uncle was dead. And to add insult to injury, Charlie’s ashes are in the dustbuster. Alan would not have vacuumed Charlie’s ashes into a dustbuster. Why was Ashton naked most of the show in front of the entire cast? Did they think his nudity was necessary to sell the show to the audience? I guess Demi didn’t have an issue with it either.

I just took Two and a Half Men off my Monday night TIVO schedule. It’s been on there since the show started. Whoever decided to replace Charlie Sheen with that talentless hairy creep should have his brain examined. Charlie Sheen is going to be gloating about this for a very long time. Sorry, Chuck, Charlie won. It’s you and the show that just turned into ashes.
Posted by: Ce | September 20, 2011, 1:13 pm 1:13 pm
I agree with Kim. I feel Charlie’s character “went out” horribly. I’m not a huge fan of Ashton and that 70s show crap. I believe the producers made a huge mistake. No one seemed to care that he was dead. They can’t bring him back, I’m not watching the show anymore. I miss Charlie Sheen and will continue to watch the old episodes on my IPad. I cried inside! My family looked forward to coming home and eating dinner laughing at Alan Jake Berta and Charlie. Might as well take away Rose. Smdh

I never was a big fan but found it funny in the past, but reality has it Charlie Sheen is half phsyco and dies not deserve such a high paying position in the series. What happend to him , I have no idea, but he is an idiot and a jerk! Of the show makes it or not, I could care less, but Charlie Sheen got what he deserved in the end.
Posted by: Tony | September 20, 2011, 2:49 pm 2:49 pm
I just watch it and then change channel because now this show is about Chuck Lorre revenge attack on Charlie Sheen personality than killing Charlie Harper.
I’ll say Chuck Lorre goes too far and now it’ll backfire to him.
Now he killed Two and a half man and it finished.

I knew we would get the airheads that only watch because they think Kutcher is hot. Their not watching because he can act. Simpleton’s alway follow their own kind. Go back to your no life twitter twit’s Ashton. You are delusional if you think you can act. It’s Kelso all over again.
Posted by: Insomnia | September 20, 2011, 3:07 pm 3:07 pm
Here’s just one of the review’s of this trainwreck of a show.
Well, unfortunately between Kutcher’s terrible acting and a horribly written character, it all just felt awkward. Was Walden supposed to be bright like his character and wealth indicated? Because all I saw was the trait that has permeated every character Kutcher has ever played: stupidity. However, unlike his lovable, iconic Kelso, there wasn’t even charm. There was just… dumb luck.

Did not like the ending of Charlie ..Did not like that no one was that upset about losing him ..Show was not funny and rather boring….Probably will not watch again. or will only if Charlie’s ghost comes back and saves the show!

Give it a rest! one episode does not a series make. Charlie commiited career suicide. He’s done stick a fork in him. This is till a very funny premise and may be even better without Charlie, we’ll still get to laugh at his antics as I doubt he’ll change his personal habits much. If he gets the big settlment he will have lots to share with his dealer and prostitutes.

Aston needs to go back to tweeting, and leave tha acting to the real actor’s the show was terrible. Half the time it looked like he had to try and remember his line’s.

Hey the show was lousy! And I’m an Ashton fan…..!!!
One good thing was…..Rose was the only witness that it was Charlie that went off the platform in Paris…..And we all know Rose is nuts.
So now the shows directors, producers and sponsors all need to make nice with Charlie Sheen and we can all go back to watching the real two and a half men!!!

Im sorry to say that kutcher does not belong on this show. Not funny. Last nights show was a total flop. I am a big fan of this show and I will say this, that my family and I were disappointed beyond belief. The only part that I thought was good was John Stamos part. That was funny. Nothing else. The beginning scene was somewhat not only direspectful but plain stupid. Well they lost my family from watching this show. Too many mistakes and the biggest one was that they actually continued with the show. Well, I guess if they decide to bring back Charlie, they may say that this was all a dream. Remember Dallas?
Posted by: Rachel | September 20, 2011, 6:35 pm 6:35 pm
Strong first episode. Quick dispatch (and about as demeaning as you could tastefully do it) of the Uncle Charlie character. Though Sheen was seen as the lead, to me Jon Cryer’s acting chops was, and is, at the core of this sitcom. He continues on without missing a step. Waiting for Ashton Kutcher to settle into his new role…the writers need to write lines that have some indication of the “smarts” that made this character a billionaire…and Ashton needs give us more than dumb and naive. This is essentially a new sitcom. It took a few episodes for Parks & Rec to settle in. I’m willing to watch a few more episodes to see what happens here.
Posted by: RatherBme | September 20, 2011, 6:56 pm 6:56 pm
All they have to do is say Charlie faked his own death and he comes back and kicks Ashton out!!!!
Otherwise , we all must move on and wait for a new Charlie Sheen sit-com!!! Or if they still want Ashton, she can divorce Herb and her and Ashton can move in together!!!!!! There is no hope!!!

I feel really bad for the cast, having to cast Charilie off like a peace of dirt. The entire show amounted to Chuck Lorre taking a dump on Charlie Sheen. Problem is most of the viewers really liked Charlie on the show and all Chuck did was make himself look like a vengeful, adolescent, disrespectful jerk.
Posted by: kim | September 20, 2011, 7:54 pm 7:54 pm
GIve it a rest! Ashton can’t act…..Bring back Charlie….. For crying out loud Sheen,s character became creepy. Drunk lothario, glamorising a seedy way of life. Why should his ex bosses have any sympathy for him after the way he treated them? Why should his character have had a dignified end. They portrayed his death as he lived. Furthermore He deserved to be fired.
I am a fan of the show, but was not keen on the last series as Sheen aways looked wasted. I like the Ashton twist and would continue to watch.

I like ashton and all but this is sooooo sad that they killed off charlies character. i will never feel the same way about this show. my husband and i agree on that. charlie was the best character for the show. now even the girls are younger and it just doesnt seem right age wise with allen trying to get in on it. him and allen arent as funny together as the original threesome. i really wish that they would do a dream thing and charlie get written back in :( totally sad :( we love you charlie sheen :)

Charlie was beginning to look like a wrinkled old man., used up by the booze, sex and drugs (oh that is the real life person too, interesting) and it was getting down right creepy ..sort of Hugh Hefner-like to listen to him demean woman and womanize, REALLY Creepy… This will be a new sit com..hopefully fresher..but was the naked Ashton really going to be a big (no pun intended) part of this character? So we just get a better looking, younger, taller , less used up “Charlie?”

As to Ashton Kutcher’s acting ability: I’ve seen most everything he has done and he is, indeed a great actor – in the right circumstances. 2-1/2 men is not that circumstance. It stunk. And I lost respect for Ashton for stooping to selling shots of his average bod for ratings. What were you thinking, Aston! Get over yourself. You look like every other guy. I was totally embarrassed that you went to that level to introduce yourself on a show that I was actually looking forward to.
As to story line: I was getting nauseated by Charlie’s x-rated character, and was hoping Ashton could offer something more decent to watch, because the show, itself, was a great one. It could have been, even without the trashy sex life line. Bothers me that the kid in the show has been exposed, all these years, to such a trashy plot. Wonder where his life will be in 10 years, as a result of being exposed to what evolved into this garbage.
I won’t watch again, and I’m sorry my 12 year old grandson actually watched it after his parents tapped it for themselves to watch when I came to visit. Had I known how trashy it would be, I’d have deleted it so he couldn’t watch it on the sly!
Ex-Fan and highly disappointed, disgusted…

Haven’t watched 2 1/2 Men for years and forgot to watch the premiere – but figured if fans enjoyed it I miight give it a shot. Guess most people didn’t.

well the headlines read top ratings for two and half men but thats only because of curiosity lets see what the ratings will be next week and next month. a big disappointment but i knew it would be yet tried to keep an open mind. sorry ashton but you’re just not funny and whats the deal with the naked sceens…i don’t get it but i have a feeling that this is something thats going to be ongoing in each episode. well we didn’t see a body and rose is nuts so we can’t believe half of what she’s saying so lets just hope thats the window for charlie to return

Searambler—I agree with you Ashton made it big enough to get that role!!!! and a beautifull woman that is way older, thought he was just her boy toy but he has proven himself to make money. so
all you Charlie lovers he was only saying what the writers wrote !!!
Posted by: Laurie | September 21, 2011, 6:45 pm 6:45 pm
I liked it! Jon Cryer was ALWAYS the funny one on the show and Charlie looked awful in the last season…so it’s nice to see some new blood!
Posted by: Bridget | September 21, 2011, 7:37 pm 7:37 pm
Laurie it doesn’t matter what the writers wrote. It’s how it’s delivered. A skilled actor could have pulled it off. Kutcher is far from a skilled actor. PLEASE all you ASHTON LOVER”S his claim to fame is playing some simpleton, dufus on “That 70′s show”. He acts like Kelso in real life. Too many desperate women need to look at some skinny idiot. Charlie was the show. Want PROOF. Thats why Two and half men became so great. Charlie Sheen. He built the show. Not Kutcher.

I THINK ASHTON LOOKS LIKE JUSTIN BIEBER FOR THE SHOW, LIKE NOT THE APROPPIATE GUY TO PLAY CHARLIE SHEEN ROLE… Its like Al Pacino Vs a ganster of 2010 !!!

Oh man it sucked big time….lets see how the rest of the seasen goes…And guys this is probably the last season so why bother making it…that doesnt make any sence

You need to bring back charlie, the show sucks without him :(

Geez, I was a two and a half men die-hard but after this episode I think I am finished. Ashton Kutcher bombed big time! He was the perfect pick to kill the entire show. If Chuck Lorre is smart he will resurrect Charlie with the small opportunity he left with the closed casket.
Looks as though Charlie Sheen is WINNING!

Shock!!!! My friend who is living with herpes told me a report from CNN said that the world’s largest herpes dating and support site MeetHerpes.com which is powered by plenty of fish now has more than 1,560,000 members. Also, more than 80% of members on the site are good looking and sexy.

I was one of the biggest Two And A Half Men fans you could find. I own all the DVD’s and watch an hour a day of reruns. I was VERY disappointed with the first new episode. One of the biggest things I loved about the series was how it mixed comedy with tender loving family moments. Yet they now portrayed Charlie’s death as nothing to cry over and a big joke. What does this tell our children and grand-children about family ties and emotions? I was hoping for a continuation of the show but all I saw was a continuation of bad feelings for Charlie Sheen being potrayed through the new show. What a disaster!

Agree with everyone who was disappointed. Producers need to reconsider and negotiate with Charlie to bring him back. They have great writers but Ashton needs to go! WE WANT CHARLIE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: natali | September 24, 2011, 5:07 pm 5:07 pm
These writers are amateurish at best, it was like a bad highschool play.
This was definitely geared for a low intelligence crowd, which to me is what the producers think of the fan base.
At least the Actors made a paycheck.
Hope this episode or the show does not ruin the Actors careers….its not their fault.

I loved 2 1/2 men but I saw the first episode of the new format and I am sorry to say I turned off early because without Charlie it’s not right.I feel sorry for the rest of the cast trying to save a trainwreck.

BOMBED !! Ashton Kutcher playing the same dumb part he played in the “70′s Show”; worked then—doesn’t work at all in this show. Ratings might have been good for the first episode; people wanted to see how it was; second episode—-changed channels before it was half over ! ( Not funny at all; his whining–dumb part gives me a migraine ! )
Posted by: Jo Smith | September 27, 2011, 10:07 am 10:07 am
I think they need to dump Ashton and make Herb (Alan’s ex wife’s new husband) a central character by having Judith divorce him, forcing him to move into Charlie’s house. Alan and Herb have proved they have good comedy timing together onscreen already, they could keep the title of the show, and do away with what will ultimately bring the show to an end…Ashton Kutcher.

Just bring back Charlie. Rose could have lied about Charlie’s death and has him held hostage in France! New episodes have been moronic & juvenile. Will not watch again – gave it a try…..
Posted by: Nancy | September 28, 2011, 2:11 pm 2:11 pm
The show was garbage. The whole show only worked because of Sheen. No one likes kutchers movies or shows. That 70s show was good aside from him. And now that point was proven with this season premier. It was the most ridiculous show I’ve ever seen. Hang up the towel on two and a half men. Charlie is gone and the show is over. They should have killed the show off and buried it before ever letting Ashton attempt to act again.
Posted by: dwentkid | September 28, 2011, 2:20 pm 2:20 pm
They could’ve done anything they liked to Charlie but kill him! Seriously I have no idea what the creators were thinking, killing one of the greatest characters ever invented!
Posted by: Ashu | September 29, 2011, 10:32 am 10:32 am
Chuck, you messed up! You had the best show on TV, best cast, best writers, what you got now is a grown man running around with no clothes on acting like a 3 year old. Swallow your pride, if you can’t do that, think about the “MONEY”. Charlie had a melt down, he is back and has held out his hand, take it Chuck. The way I see it, you got 3 choices:
Bring Charlie back
Go to Mars and find another Rock Star with Tiger Blood
Dig a hole in your back yard and bury this series real deep
Have watched it twicw, won’t watch again. Always got reruns I guess !!

I was a bif fan of the original show. I hated to see how charlie acted and I don’t blame them for canning him. He was to full of himself. To bad the show was about charlie and when he left the show was finished.

If they stop pressing the laugh button so much it might be funnier’ I agree with two totally different comedies, Allen was funny with Smooth Charlie but know you have Allen and Ashton being funny it’s to much, the Kidd acts more mature! They should of ended this show and started a new one!
Posted by: Steve | October 4, 2011, 5:57 pm 5:57 pm
I’ve been a diehard fan of the show for 8 seasons, but it’s time to call it quits. The show is absolutely AWFUL without Sheen. Why is no one on the show upset at the fact that Charlie is dead? I gave it a chance and watched exactly 2 1/2 episodes (ironic). The last episode was so stupid that I couldn’t sit through it.

Abc really screwd it up now i have to find a new show to wathatch. Ashton sucks hes not up to par. Not only that but the episodes story line sucks. Oh and they couldnt find a better way to remove the character.
Posted by: Shaila | October 6, 2011, 8:45 pm 8:45 pm
I agree with all the previous negative comments about this reincarnation – especially regarding Ashton. The new story line is not that great, but beyond that, he’s neither a good actor nor funny. Somehow the other actors, who are definitely talented, seem diminished in the new episodes. I realize that this is a comedy, but as others expressed, I’m taken back by his family’s indifference and even bemusement with his death. This show is over.
Posted by: bebe | October 8, 2011, 1:16 pm 1:16 pm
I tried to watch the show and give it a chance. It is not the same without charlie. It is sad it was an amazing show. Removing Charlie Sheen was a very bad business decision.
Posted by: nadia | October 11, 2011, 1:27 am 1:27 am
I suffered through the last three shows and as far as I am concerned it is now the worst show on TV. I do not like what Sheen did, but without him the show sucks! It is now dead to me!

I said that I would not watch the new Two and a Half Men, but I did. I had to see it for myself. You know, it was just okay. Nobody can replace Charlie. The house looks lonely, Alan looks worried, Berta shouldn’t live there, etc, etc. It’s just all screwed up. I watch all of the reruns every night, which I’ve seen over and over again. I just can’t get enough. I loved that show. (the one with Charlie). Chuck Lorre, please bring Charlie back. Make his death a bad dream, and bring him back. You both can remain RICH.

i thought the new show of two and a half men was going to be awesome. but when i seen it, i was very dissapointed. the house looks so lonely now and everything just seesm so screwed up.

Ok… this show tanked! It should NOT be called Two and A Half men any longer… it needs to be RE-titled One and 2/3rds! Its like a dad with 2 teenage sons… one with acne for his biggest worries.. the other that needs a whole new life adjustment! Charlie was the best thing that happened to this show.. he made this show… and now they have nothing! No offense Jon Cryer! :)

I agree with Madeline from the Sept 29th post. I finally convinced myself to watch the new season and well “Dude wheres the talent!” popped into my head. Seriously with the half gay brother still around they should have revammped the show into 2 queens and a the teen. However, I will give the teen credit he is the last of the funny on the show. CHARLIE ROCKS!!!!

Ok so all you simpletons on here who say Ashton can’t act and that he acts like his “70s show” character in real life… For one, I doubt you have ever met him in real life so how the hell would you know, and secondly, I have seen all of his movies and shows and he is a wonderful actor! He acts the part he is given, so of you don’t like the character, blame the people who created that character. Don’t be jealous, for a “talentless simpleton” Ashton sure did well for himself! I don’t care for the show now, but as an actor, Ashton is awesome, even though he was stopping with this role.

What was once a show that I would never miss is now a show that has been deleted from my ‘DVR series list’. This show will never make it. It’s a shame!

There’s so many better ways they could have written out Charlie and written in Aston. One word describes the new show, sucks!! Simple as that Ashton does not play the role well what so ever. I honestly think they could have done better with out him!

Such a complete FAIL. You can’t replace Charlie with the the talentless loser we have all grown to hate and look at with disgust known as Ashton Kutcher. I just watched every episode up till season 7 episode 1, and I WILL NOT watch any more unless its from seasons 1-6. This is an abomination, its travesty of what 2 and a 1/2 men once was.

NO body likes a wussie. That’s Walton Schmidt. How can C. Lorre be so stupid as to have a wussie, the Waldon character, replace Charlie? Who is going to lead? Certainly not Alan.
He is still a loser. Not Waldon. Can’t happen. Jake is a little young, although he recently got laid.
Will Alan’s daughter (skip forward a little) be the child’s role? Why not kill off Waldon? Great idea.
Bring Charlie back via a dream sequence. It would save the show. He is unemployed and looking for work. Would he apologize?
Lorre MUST end Waldon, the wussie character. He is the REAL loser, and an anchor for Lorre.
IMHO

PLEASE BRING CHARLIE BACK!!!
P.S. It should say something that people are still blogging about this monthe later!!!!

I WILL NEVER WATCH the “new” two and a half men.
After watching a few episodes I have come to this conclusion.
Nothing like taking out personal vendettas against a person whom you had disagreements with Mr (or should I say Mz) Lorre, (what’s up Chuck).
YOU showed your contempt as wewll as youer immaturity in how “you killed off Charlie Harper.”
I’m certain this is he DEATH KNELL for this show, and Mr Lorrie will be notably scarred for his failure in moral judgement.

I dont think the show is bad or writers are bad! Charlie Sheen became an idiot & made everyone hate him! he was gone & everyone seen that coming! Ashton gets to work again & his marriage fails at his start (DEMI INSECURITIES) & I am sure their are alot of Sheen & Demi fans that are on here talking trash! Sad!! They need to find another direction for their anger!! THE SHOW ISNT ALL BAD!! GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE!!

“Dumb…dumb…dumb…and boring, boring and more boring. He’s NOTHING compared to Charlie but Charlie was getting old and how many women can you sleep with anyway, either on the show or off? Pathetic. The show had a good run. Let it die a respectable death and go out on top of the charts and not wait until it’s cancelled due to no one watching anymore. Geez!”
If they could have made even ONE more good episode, even though there would be many more, watching those shows would be worth it in themselfs, so let it die out to get every good thing you can out of it..
